About Linda Amato

Linda Amato is the founder of Amato Law, PLLC, a boutique trust and estate law firm located in New York City committed to providing the highest quality estate planning services to individuals, families, and businesses in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.

Linda’s extensive experience includes a combined background in investment banking, health care, and estate planning that spans over 30 years.  She brings a unique skill set to the practice of trusts and estate planning. Prior to forming her private practice, Linda worked with an asset management company owned by one of Europe’s largest private banks.  Her practice focused on compliance, operational and regulatory matters related to investing in complex investment strategies.  Linda’s top priority was protecting client assets.

Before her career in law, Linda was a former MSW and worked in the health care industry for over 10 years. Today she draws upon her clinical training and health care experience when helping clients create their estate plans.  She helps them understand why long-term planning is an essential component of estate planning and why it should not be overlooked regardless of age, health, marital status, and wealth.

Linda understands that although most clients share many of the same concerns—preserving their assets for their children, reducing estate tax liability, retirement, the cost of long-term care, and making sure that the administration of their estate is not a burden for their loved ones – she does not provide a cookie-cutter approach.  She takes the time to thoroughly understand her clients’ needs before proposing solutions.

Linda prefers to take a collaborative approach.  She works closely with her client’s trusted advisors including accountants and financial advisors to ensure that the client’s goals are clearly identified and understood by the team and the client before finalizing the plan.  Her estate planning documents are customized and meticulously prepared and reflect her commitment to providing the best possible outcome for every client.

Education

In addition to her Master’s in Social Work from New York University, Linda earned her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law. While in law school she ranked among the top 5% of her class and was a member of the law review. In addition, she interned with the Hon. Nan R. Nolan, United States District Court Northern District Court of Illinois.

Personal

Linda is admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey.  She is a member of the Trust and Estate Section and the Elder Law & Special Needs Section of the New York State Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and the National Association of Divorce Professionals.
